Pronoun কাকে বলে? কত প্রকার ও কী কী?

Pronoun হলো Parts of Speech আলোচনার দ্বিতীয় ধাপ। আগের একটি ব্লগে আমরা Noun নিয়ে আলোচনা করেছিলাম, আর এখন আমরা প্রবেশ করছি Pronoun -এর জগতে। English Grammar -এর আলোচনার ক্ষেত্রে Pronoun অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ, স্কুল-কলেজ-বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভর্তি পরীক্ষা এবং চাকরির পরীক্ষাসহ সকল প্রকার Competitive Exam- এ Pronoun থেকে প্রশ্ন থাকবেই। 

আমার এই আর্টিকেল তাই শুরু হবে Pronoun কাকে বলে -এই আলোচনার মধ্য দিয়ে। আলোচনা এগিয়ে যাবে Pronoun কত প্রকার এবং তাদের বিস্তারিত জানার মাধ্যমে। আর বরাবরের মতোই এখানেও, একদম শেষে যুক্ত করে দেয়া হবে একটি pronoun exercise অংশ, যার মাধ্যমে নিজের প্রস্তুতির জায়গাটি কেমন তা যাচাই করে নেয়া যাবে।

Pronoun কাকে বলে? 

Pronoun হলো এক বা একাধিক Noun-এর পরিবর্তে ব্যবহৃত শব্দ, যা Noun-এর মতোই কোনো ব্যক্তি, বস্তু, স্থান, বিষয়, ধারণাকে নির্দেশ করে। Wren & Martin -এর গ্রামার বই অনুসারে, A Pronoun is a word used instead of a Noun. যেমন, 

• Karim is a good student. He is in class 5. (Karim- এর পরিবর্তে he একটি Pronoun)
• This is the book which we wanted. (The book- কে বোঝাতে which একটি Pronoun)

তাই বলা যায়, Noun- এর পরিবর্তে যেসব Word ব্যবহৃত হয়, তাদেরকে Pronoun বলে। 

 

Pronoun কত প্রকার? 

Pronoun কাকে বলে তা জানার পর স্বাভাবিকভাবেই প্রশ্ন আসে, Pronoun কত প্রকার? Pronoun -কে English Grammarian -রা আট ভাগে বিভক্ত করেন। এগুলো হলো, 

• Personal Pronoun 
• Reflexive Pronoun 
• Indefinite Pronoun 
• Relative Pronoun 
• Demonstrative Pronoun 
• Interrogative Pronoun 
• Distributive Pronoun 
• Reciprocal Pronoun 

Pronoun meaning in Bengali

Pronoun -এর বাংলা হলো সর্বনাম পদ। বাংলায় বিশেষ্যের পরিবর্তে যে শব্দগুলো ব্যবহৃত হয়, সেগুলো সর্বনাম নামে পরিচিত। যেমন, ‘বাংলাদেশ একটি নদীমাতৃক দেশ, এর শরীরজুড়ে বিছিয়ে আছে জালের মতো সব নদী।’ এই বাক্যে ‘এর’ শব্দটি একটি সর্বনাম পদ। সর্বনামেরও বেশ কিছু প্রকার বিদ্যমান। যেমন পুরুষবাচক (আমি, তুমি); প্রশ্নবাচক (কে, কী); দূরত্ববাচক (ঐ, ঐসব)- ইত্যাদি।

Personal Pronoun 

কোনো ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর নামের পরিবর্তে যে Pronoun ব্যবহৃত হয়, তাকে Personal Pronoun বলে।

উদাহরণ	মন্তব্য
John took the book and opened it.	Book বোঝাতে it ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে
He rang Salma and invited her.	Salma -কে বোঝাতে her ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে
Why are you crying, Mithu?	Mithu -কে বোঝাতে You ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে
My father is fat –he weighs over 100 kg.	My father-এর পরিবর্তে he ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে

Person অনুসারে Personal Pronoun-কে আবার তিন ভাগে ভাগ করা যায়,

Reflexive Pronoun

উপরে দেখানো Personal Pronoun -এর Objective ও Possessive form -এর সাথে self বা selves যুক্ত হয়ে যে সব Pronoun গঠিত হয়, তাদেরকে Reflexive pronoun হিসেবে অভিহিত করা হয়। এক্ষেত্রে Singular Reflexive Pronoun -এর সাথে self এবং Plural Reflexive pronoun -এর সাথে selves যুক্ত হয়। 

উদাহরণ	মন্তব্য
I saw myself in the mirror.	I এখানে singular, তাই my -এর সাথে self যুক্ত হয়েছে
Sabina made herself a sandwich.	Sabina এখানে singular, তাই her -এর সাথে self যুক্ত হয়েছে
We enjoyed ourselves last week.	We এখানে plural, তাই our -এর সাথে selves যুক্ত হয়েছে
They gave themselves much trouble.	They এখানে plural, তাই them -এর সাথে selves যুক্ত হয়েছে

Indefinite Pronoun 

যে Pronoun-গুলো কোনো ব্যক্তি বা কোনো জিনিসকে সুনির্দিষ্ট করে বলে না, তাকে Indefinite Pronoun বলে। যে Pronoun-গুলোর শেষে one অথবা body যুক্ত থাকে, সেগুলো ব্যক্তিকে বোঝায়। অন্যদিকে, যে Pronoun-গুলোর শেষে thing যুক্ত থাকে, সেগুলো বস্তুকে বোঝায়। 

Indefinite Pronoun	উদাহরণ
One	One should do one’s duty perfectly.
Some	Is there any milk in the pot? Yes, some are left.
Any	I lost many books but I didn’t find any.
None	None is happy in this world.
Many	The building has many flats but few are good.
Much	He never eats much for breakfast.
Another	I don’t like this book, please give me another.

Relative Pronoun 

যে Pronoun-গুলো দু’টি বাক্যের মধ্যে বসে এবং সম্বন্ধ বোঝায়, তাদেরকে relative Pronoun বলা হয়। 

Relative Pronoun	উদাহরণ
Who	The boy who tried to steal sweets was caught.
Whom	The man whom we saw yesterday is his brother.
Which	This is the baby which was crying.
Whose	This is my friend whose mother was a teacher.
That	This is the book that I bought yesterday.

Demonstrative Pronoun 

যে সব Pronoun কোনো ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর পরিবর্তে বসে এবং তাদেরকে নির্দেশ করে, তাদেরকে Demonstrative Pronoun বলে। এখানে this, that, these, those এককভাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

This/ These	This is my book These are his pens
That/ Those	He must go there and that should be done quickly. These are ripe mangoes but those are green and sour.

Interrogative Pronoun 

Who, Which, What, Whom দ্বারা যখন প্রশ্ন করা হয়, তখন তাকে Interrogative Pronoun বলে। 

Interrogative Pronoun	উদাহরণ
Who	Who are you talking about?
Which	Which of the pens is yours?
What	What type of book do you like?
Whom	Whom did you meet yesterday?

Distributive Pronoun 

যে সকল Pronoun একজাতীয় একাধিক Noun- এর মধ্যে কোনো কিছুকে পৃথক করা বোঝায়, সেগুলোকে Distributive Pronoun বলা হয়। 

Distributive Pronoun	উদাহরণ
Each	Each new day is different.
Either	Either of the two boys is intelligent.
Neither	Neither of the statements is true.

Reciprocal Pronoun 

যে সব Pronoun দ্বারা দুই বা ততোধিক ব্যক্তির মধ্যে পারস্পরিক সম্পর্ক বোঝায়, তাদেরকে Reciprocal Pronoun বলা হয়। 

Reciprocal Pronoun	উদাহরণ
Each other	Neither of them saw each other
One another	They always love one another

Pronoun এর প্রকারভেদ: ফিরে দেখা 

তাহলে এবার পুরো আলোচনার একটা সারসংক্ষেপ দেখা যাক,

Personal Pronoun	Person বা ব্যক্তির পরিবর্তে বসে	You, he, her
Reflexive Pronoun	কর্তা ও কর্ম একই ব্যক্তিকে বোঝায়	myself, herself, ourselves
Indefinite Pronoun	অনির্দিষ্ট ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে বোঝায়	One, Some, None
Relative Pronoun	দু’টি বাক্যের মধ্যে সম্পর্ক বোঝায়	Who, Whom, Which
Demonstrative Pronoun	কোনো Noun- কে বিশেষভাবে নির্দেশ করে	This, That, Such
Interrogative Pronoun	প্রশ্ন করার জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়	Who, What, Which
Distributive Pronoun	কোনো কিছুকে পৃথক করে	Each, Either, Neither
Reciprocal Pronoun	একাধিক ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর মধ্যে পারস্পরিক সম্পর্ক বোঝায়	Each other, One another
